Our denture process

From your first visit to follow-up care, we focus on fit, comfort, and a smile you feel good about:

  • Consultation:Dr. Katireddy reviews your oral health, discusses goals, and recommends complete or partial dentures—or a phased plan if extractions are involved.
  • Impressions & records:We take accurate impressions and measurements (and bite records when needed) so your denture is fabricated to match your mouth.
  • Custom fabrication:Your dentures are made with quality materials and shaped for appearance and durability based on your treatment plan.
  • Fitting & adjustments:At delivery we check fit, comfort, and bite, and make adjustments so speaking and eating feel as natural as possible.
  • Ongoing care:Regular visits help us monitor fit as your mouth changes, reline or repair when needed, and keep your gums and any remaining teeth healthy.

Frequently asked questions about dentures

Are dentures uncomfortable to wear?

Custom dentures are made for a comfortable, secure fit. A short adjustment period is normal; most patients adapt quickly, and we’re here to fine-tune the fit.

How long do dentures last?

With good care, many dentures last on the order of 5–8 years. Bone and gum shape change over time, so relines, repairs, or replacement may be needed eventually.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Yes. Dentures are designed to restore chewing function. You may start with softer foods and build up as you adapt; we’ll review tips for comfortable eating.

What are immediate dentures?

Immediate dentures are placed the same day as tooth extractions so you aren’t without teeth while healing. Follow-up visits are important as gums shrink and the fit is refined.

Do dentures affect speech?

Some people notice small changes at first. With practice and a well-fitted denture, speech usually returns to feeling natural quickly.

Complete vs. partial dentures

We offer two main types of custom-fitted dentures:

  • Complete dentures replace all teeth in an upper or lower arch. They rest on the gums (and palate for an upper denture). We may recommend conventional dentures after healing or immediate dentures placed the same day as extractions, with follow-up as tissues heal.
  • Partial dentures replace some missing teeth while clasps or precision attachments work with your remaining natural teeth. They’re designed to fill spaces and help keep your bite more stable.

Who may benefit from dentures?

Dentures may be a good fit if you:

  • Have multiple or all teeth missing in an arch and want a removable replacement.
  • Struggle with chewing or diet because of tooth loss.
  • Notice speech or confidence affected by gaps or missing teeth.
  • Prefer a non-surgical or budget-conscious path to replace teeth (implants can sometimes be combined later—ask what’s right for you).

Caring for your dentures

To help your dentures last and stay comfortable:

  • Clean daily with a soft brush and products meant for dentures; also brush your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth.
  • Handle carefully over a towel or sink of water so they won’t break if dropped.
  • Soak when directed—many dentures do best in water or soaking solution overnight (follow our instructions).
  • Keep regular dental visits for oral health checks and denture adjustments.
  • Call if something changes— looseness, sore spots, or cracks should be addressed promptly.
